About Me

Hello! I’m Dr. Shannon Henry, and I’m glad you’re here.

Whether this is your first time considering therapy or you are a seasoned therapy pro, reaching out for support can be a big step.

My approach is simple: I want to get to know you as a person, understand what you’re going through, and work with you to find practical, meaningful solutions. Whether you’re dealing with stress, relationship or identity issues, anxiety, OCD, or just feeling stuck, I’m here to help you make sense of things and move forward in a way that feels right for you.

I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy, among others) to ensure our work is effective and tailored to your needs. This means I use methods that have been shown to help people manage their emotions, change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, and build better relationships. But more importantly, I believe that therapy should be about us working together in a way that feels comfortable, constructive, and genuine for you.

My therapeutic approach emphasizes self-compassion and exploring the narratives that have shaped your life. We’ll work together to uncover and challenge unhelpful patterns, bringing your values and behaviors into alignment, so you can live a more authentic and fulfilling life.

I recognize and celebrate diversity and inclusion in my life and work. I am curious about clients’ lived experiences and aim to understand and respect each person’s unique culture, context, and identity. I am happy to support trans and gender nonconforming individuals by providing gender-affirming care, including letters of support.

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy savoring good espresso, trying out new baking recipes, reading, cross-stitching and other crafty pursuits, decompressing with cozy video games, and spending time outdoors with my partner and our beagle mix, Dipper.

If it sounds like we may be a good fit, let’s connect!

Professional Background

I started graduate school with the intention of pursuing a research career, but discovered a love for therapy along the way!

I have provided therapy in a number of clinical settings, including Community Mental Health, University Counseling Centers, as well as in group practice and now private practice. I've led several therapy groups, including DBT and interpersonal process groups, and provided clinical supervision to early career therapists. As part of a Gender Support Services team at a local group practice, I obtained years of experience conducting assessments and writing letters of support for gender affirming treatment. Aside from clinical work, I have also independently taught college-level psychology courses and conducted CE-eligible presentations — primarily focused on multicultural issues — for professionals working in behavioral health fields.

Currently, I am focused on providing individual therapy for adults (ages 18+), and continuing to provide assessment and letters of support for gender-affirming care, with all of my work being done virtually via telehealth.
